I dance to honour my direct descent from Somerled. My Y DNA sequence (R1a1 - Old Norse Haplogroup) has been put throgh a database and shows than Somhairle Mor Mac Ghillebridhe was a paternal ancestor in the direct male line - he was progenitor to the Chiefs of the MacDonald, Douglas and MacAllister Clans, and was the first Lord of the Isles.
